Default Xoxide Rocker Mouse - First impressions

Well, I say the news blurb about it here, and I fell for it and ordered one like 10 minutes later. A few days after, my Rocker Mouse just got here. I've been playing with it for a couple hours now, and I *like*. Looks-wise, the mouse is seriously pimp. I love how it lights up brighter when you touch and move it. I've heard some people complain about how the scroll wheel lights up blue but the bottom LED is red, but it kinfda suits my case lighting a bit, so I can't complain. This is one slick looking mouse.

Usability wise, not too sure yet. I'm still getting used to rocking/clicking. My insitnct is still to try clicking buttons at the top of the mouse, but for this mouse you have to rock the whole mouse to the side. The movement is slight, but after so many years of regular mice, it does *not* come naturally. However, i'm sure that after a couple days I'll get more used to it.

Can't comment on gaming performance yet.. Don't trust myself to open a Word document with it yet, definetly don't think I can frag with it yet. But it does seem more comfortable to use than a normal mouse, especially for a few hours on end like I';ve been using it.

Overall, considering I've only had it a couple hours, I definetly like it so far.. however, I can tell that it's gonna take some getting used to before I'm fully comfortable with it. However, for looks like this, I'm definetly willing to give it a few extra clicks to learn.

You young punks with yer "optical mice" and yer "rocker mice"! Why in my day our mice had little balls in them, an' everyweek you had to take the little ball out and scrape the gunk out from inside them! An thats the way it was and we liked it! Weee loved it!

Sorry to much caffine I apologize

hehe.. @ work all we have are regular ball mice.. And I swear, I have to clean that damn gunk off them *every single day*. I have no idea how they get so filthy. I have to deal with that so much at work, ain't no way I'm keeping a ball mouse at home, my home 'puter is for relaxing, gaming, and modding, not for cleaning gunk out of ball mice.

My kids keep wearing out my trackballs gaming so I finally broke down yesterday and ordered a Logitech MX700. Hopefully that will hold up better. Wanted something that could game and do graphics. I don't think the rocker mouse is up to those jobs. Or that I'm up to learning a new method of control.

I'd love to get an MX700. I might even break down and buy one soon (though that modded 9500 is allready set as my next major puter purchase..). but for under $20 on sale, the Rocker mouse packs a lot of style for the relatively low price. If nothing else, it'll deifnetly turn heads at the LAN party.. of course, then those same heads will mock you for getting your a$$ handed to you because you're still not used to the new mouse.. but, hey, at least you get those initial oohs and ahhs.

Anyway, I've been using it at work today (yeah, I brought it to work so I could keep getting used to it).. the more I use it, the comfier it feels.. but the more I get used to the mechanics, the more I think that this is really not a gaming mouse.. it's too easy to tilt it to the side when moving the mouse franctically around in a game of CS and end up wasting ammo or shooting yourself in the foot.. maybe with a lot more practice.. In any case.. it's so pretty..
