Default HDD on XP

Most of you all know that I I have next to no first hand experience with Win XP.

I have a buddy at work with a 160 GB HDD (sorry, don't know the type) hooked up to an external (USB 2.0) enclosure.

Win XP detects the drive, but assigns it a size of 120 GB. My buddy denies any partitions etc.

You guys know anything about XP and large drives? or XP and external drives that might help?

Sorry I don't have more info!!!

Default

could be the fact that microsoft had to release a USB 2.0 patch thru update that would enable usb 2.0 on alot of systems that had it but wouldnt support it thru windows.....only thing i can think of, i know when i got my a7n8x i had to use a real off the beaten path patch out of the microsoft knowlegde base to update windows to work with 2.0? dunno if thats the problem, but its worth a shot........it wasnt included with SP1 either

is he even updated to sp1? cause i dont think xp has native support for usb 2.0 without it.......i may be totally wrong, but i dont remember it being widely available before sp1.
