Question Will this even work?

Ok. Im new. Very new. So be gentile. I have an ISA 50 Pin SCSI card. and an 80 Pin SCSI hard drive. I have an adapter that will make the 80 Pin either a 60(?) or 50 pin. Can I do it. Will it suck as something to download music to to share the whole disk over a network. Thats my plan...even if the drive is slow, if it works thats fine. Lemme know.

BTW Itll be running on a Pentium MMX overclocked to 200MHz, 90Megs ram, Win 98.

Keefer, (Sutherland, I couldn't resist ).

First off, welcome to PR and we don't take it easy on anyone.

Everyone gets the red hot poker when they deserve it, the applause as well. Life is richer that way when it's honest

I can't say if this will work, but give this some time and see if someone knows about it for sure. My first thought is "God that's antique **** !" But then again, so what, if it's all old together then it should work fine.

Darksamurai and some of the others may be able to help.

HALLELUJA !!!

YOU JUST MADE MY DAY AND YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IT!

as far as your SCSI issue, if you are having to resort to those kinds of measures for compatibility...you might wanna consider just picking up the appropriate one-or-the-other....

I had an old 50 pin scanner that I used with an 80 pin SCSI card, I just got an adapter for it. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Fuelman was sure glad to see your system specs.

SK8,
Yeah the memory..well thats a long story....actually its not...I need PC 100...and um..well...it wont work. BUT dont worry dude, do U think Darik would want it?? I got 256megs on the way from e-bay thow so that should speed up XP pro from my measily 64 megs now (am I still makin U happy fu3lman?) So my computer sucks hardcore but its good enough for me now...thow I have a feeling if i hang out here long enough ill be ripping into it pretty soon

Anywho any other ideas yeah/nay on the SCSI thing? I guess if worse comes to worse Ill just try it and see. Oh yeah I used WCPUID to see that Amys 200MHZ(the one the SCSI drive is going in) only has 16K of L1 Cache? Is that right??Eeek. I just wish i could get the speed a little higher on it....maybe Ill post the question over the the motherboard section.

Later-

Darrick's Rig only supports PC 2100 so he can't use it soo no.. plus he doesn't have any money About the hard drive... all i can say is try it. Bigakita says it will work and he knows what he's talkin about so i say try it.

Edit: I may have a SCSI adapter here at my house.. if i find one.. i'll give it to ya.

SK8,

If U need the Ram back ill give it back...i cant use it in my heap...Also if you have an 80 pin card that would rule hardcore. If U want I could give you your ram back in trade for it...and maybe a few bucks extra since the card probably cost a lot more....lemme know man.
