Default DVD Burner won't burn!!!

have nero six... nero has supported my drive since 5.5 but it gives me errors such as "can't initialize disk at once"... "error in power up"... "could not start drive" however it reads disks just fine. If i reinstall windows and load up the drive it works untill i get on the internet or load up a firewall, then it's trashed. Any suggestions?

knowing what kind of burner you have might help.

if it works fine until you get on the net or a firewall, i would go for a virus scan.

either that or RMA the drive or test it in another computer!

I have not liked Nero after 5.5, but that may just be me. Unfortunately, 5.5 does not support my DVD drive which is much newer than the software. So I found alternate software that suits my needs just fine.

6.6.1.x is the latest to update for free....and most of the availible dvd burners are supported...but us at our store have had a rash of bad DVD burners...3 bad in 2 weeks...1 was new out of the box...but I would try updateing nero first http://www.ahead.de/us/nero-up.php ...then maybe the firmware on the drive....if that dosn't resolve the problem....try in different machine.....and if that dosn't work..the RMA option is the only option left other than a new drive...

Thanks for the info, but I am quite happy with the software I use now. Alcohol 120% being just one of the progs.
Open source software has come a LONG way in this particular arena as well.
