| Anyone out there using a thermal monitor? I"ve been doing some googling on the subject, but i'm having a hard time making a decision (honestly it's because i can't physically inspect any of the products/pepper a salesperson with questions). So, i was hoping to get some feedback from pimps who have first hand experience with TM's. I know that i definitely want to monitor my CPU, GPU, and case temps (ram?, Chipset?), and i'm specifically looking at the digidoc 5+ http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/tmp-10.html The problem i'm having is that i think the Digidoc may have too many whistles and buzzers, and i'm not sure that i want a fan controller incorporated (if it is, i definitely don't want to be stuck having to use a "smart fan" feature). Any feedback/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. | ||

| Get two of these: http://www.aquajoe.com/compunurse.htm And mount them in a 5 1/4 drive bezel. This will allow you to monitor 4 temps with no extra bells and whistles. Runs off a battery which seems to last about 12-18 months. You can then use whatever fan controller you want. The only big disadvantage is that they are not back lit. In my sig you can see that I used two compunurse singles, vinyl dyed them and put them in a drive bay. turned out well if I do say so myself. | ||

| I'm not a big Thermaltake fan, but the have some nice monitors. I picked up a couple of Hardcano 9's for under twenty bucks. The Compunurse advanced they use in them will set you back that much. No batteries and comes with 4 way manual fan control. No backlight though. The big advantage of the Thermaltake monitors is the probe wire. The wires are extremely thin. If you decide to mount the probe behind the cpu die for extra accuracy, the thin wires make it easy. A hobby saw or jewelers file can be used to dig a couple of shallow grooves in the zif socket so the cpu sits flat. Check out their line of monitors. Chances are you'll find one that fits your needs in your price range. The Hardcano 13 even has a built in card reader. | ||

| Thanks for the feedback pimps (as always it is MUCH appreciated )Well, all of the suggestions are great (definitely given me much to think about). BA any basic ETA on that review? Thanks again you awesome pimps EDIT: Well, after a ton of surfing today here's how it stands: Either i'm gonna go with Putwig's suggestion (a d@mn fine one, i might add), or with a Cooler Master Aerogate3. However, i'm gonna hold out for a little while in the hopes that BA will be able to give a basic idea of when to expect the review (I'm itching to start dorking with the new hardware, but not until i know what the temps are for sure).
