If you have the Owners manual's that came with the PC I would look in there first. I believe the Crucial web site has a menu that allows you to select the PC you own and will come up with thier compatible brand. Most of the time the ram has a sticker on it stating all the needed specifications.

the best thing would be to either call dell and ask them, or do a google search and find out that way,

oh yah, system specs would be nice too!

the presario might take DDR PC2100 but i'm not sure, its just a guess!
for the optiplex maybe DDR, prolly PC 2700 , if that!

hmm what you guys think?

With tech support these days you'd be on the phone forever to get little if any helpful information. They usually try to sell thier "compatible" ram at expensive prices and argue it's a bargin. Crack the case and take a look at the ram if you don't have the manual.

with the model number and such you will find all answers you need from that site.

open the case up... take out the memory... take a pic and post it ... or count the "pins"

and then tell uswhat kinda proc it is...

or be lazy like me ... get fresh diagnose http://www.freshdevices.com/freshdiag.html

and tell us what it gives you for the memory information
