| Anyone here game on wireless? I have no choice but to, parents wont run the router in my room, won run cable into my room, so no matter what, even by offering to pay the ISP bill, I will be forced to game on wireless. I'm not concerned with bandwidth as I am lag spikes. They are intermittent, on eevery 40 or 50 seconds. I can't figure out why but it is related to wireless because when I am on Cat5 I dont lag. Is there anyone out there gaming on wireless that's actually killing anything? the router is a crap Linksys BEFWS411 or something like that. Also I switched out my Linksys wireless adapter for a Blitzz one from Wal-Mart and the lag isn't as bad but it still there. It's a spike not a contiuous dial-up like bandwidth problem. However now none of the machines in my room will connect to CS or HL servers, it will display a fresh list of servers and show all the players playing etc. etc. but I can't join any of them. | ||

| That would be a great idea to run Cat5 through the wall except for h fact he won't let me even though I voluteered to buy all the materials and install it myself which requires going up into the deep unknown frontier that is our attic and doing it myself. We also have pets, and a grandmother that lives in here, you know how that goes. I swear they designed this house with intentions of keeping me from actually doing something on my computer, between the ventilation problems and laggy internet. I can't do sh*t in here, 'cept surf PR and run a benchmark every now and then ![]() | ||

| I have been playing CS Source at work on my laptop using a wireless connection - I dont even have a router. I used a wireless adapter connected to another PC and Internet Connection Sharing thru Windows XP. Latency is about mid 40s to high 80s - jumps around. I dont have any problem except my skills and my laptop. Im playing CS Source at 640 x 480 and getting 15 - 25 fps (depends on map)......I play all night and get very few kills, then go home and use my PC and everything reacts so much quicker I do WAY better. The connection to our ISP at work is even wireless. laptop>wifi card>air>wifi adapter>host pc>cat 5>router>antenna>air>antenna>air>antenna>ISP We have to jump a two towers before we get where were going........Im suprised the latency isnt any worse. | ||
