Default 350 Watt Power Supply

Quick Question, Can a 350 watt Power suppy work to only handle,
1 Sony cd/dvd burner
1 WD raptor sata drive,
Gigabyte main board,
3.0 p4 chip with standard Cooling fan and heat sink
1 6 in 1 card reader
3 fans
2 lights.
vid card with no power plug "yes a cheap one"
I am putting together a PC for my daughter, The case she wanted has a 350 PS in it. Is that enoug to handle above or should I spend the money and get a 450? I do not plan to upgrade anything once its built. She does not play games etc. Mainly School, Photos and internet.
I may but a new one for me and give her my 450?

Thanks in advance.

Why would you get your daughter a 3.0 GHz P4 for homework and interent?

On to your question, the quality of the PSU is way more important than the wattage. If it is a 350 W Fortron, A-Open, sparkle, or Antec,it will be ample.

If it is totally generic, or known garbage, I would replace it.

It depends on how good of a power supply it is, a Generic 500 watt is not going to hold up as well as a high end 350 watt.

There is a calculater you can use, just plug in your hardware...couldn't find a link, it's called "Goopsulater" or something similar, maybe someone here can remember it.

You can always give her the 450 you have and upgrade to something a little beefier
