Default Radio on Computer

Hey guys, I enjoy listening to the radio, but I want to be able to listen to it on my computer. I would like to be able to tune to both Am and FM, and I mean local stations; not internet radio things. How would I accomplish this? Is there a PCI radio card or a 5.25" device that acts as a radio tuner? I haven't had much success finding anything, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, did I put this in the right spot? Feel free to move it, Ijust didn't know where else it would go. Thanks!

Ah thank you so much! I'm really looking into that, but is there anything else that might be a little less expensive and a computer component (pci card, 5.25" device, etc)? Thank you so much for that link, tho!

Talking Fm

My wife is a huge fan of FM on computer

D-Link made a USB one - it's no longer supported. I even wrote a VB6 front-end for the thing.

Reveal made one
Packard Bell made one maybe under the Acer name
No xp drivers tho'

Let me scourge I may have one I can sell for cheapsies.

Talking No news

I checked my stash and theyre gone - musta left with a whole bunch of ISA boards I sold one of the other pimps.

No real loss tho as they were FM only and no XP drivers.

In fact, I don't think ANYBODY supports AM on the PC ... FM, XM, but no AM. Is there a frequency issue or just no perceived demand? I know some people would like to time-shift AM stuff....

Anyhow...

The AIW 9600XT has a radio in addition to a TV tuner. I almost went with that, but then i realized i only ever listened to one station that i wouldn't be able to get out here anyway and went with the 9800Pro.

Talking Griffin

Boy Griffin makes nice stuff - Ive been lusting for a PowerMate knob for sometime. All Griffin stuff is pricey tho - I just dont have a good reason for the PowerMate.

I'll let my homeboys know about RadioShark .... Now I gotta find that PC-XM dingus again. Think Tiger? had them at one point.

The XM-PCR has been discontinued because of software that allowed recording of the stream.
I have heard talk of the software vendor in collaboration with another hardware vendor, if I can find my resource on that I wil let you know.

Angry Recording?

Lets kill the revenue stream because of recording?

Oy vey!

(begin type=RANT)
The Digital Rights Management people are gonna have to get something through their collective pointy heads - if its ever decrypted [and it must be so it can be listened to], then its recordable, digitizable and distributable. End of story and nothing changes that.
(end //Rant)

You can still get the XM-PCR on eBay - wonder if there is software from a thirdparty?
