Digicam?

I'm looking into buying a mini-digicam just to mess around with. I could really use one here for various things, and it would be nice at parties. What do you guys think of this. I was looking at it last christmas and it was this price after rebate without the acessories pack. I'd also spend the $55 or whatever for another 512mb card. I've read some reviews, but they seem to mostly be people complaining about crappy image quality on a cheaper than cheap camera. Opinions? $165 for the whole shebang including shipping seem like a good deal?

Honestly, that digicam looks cheap. I highly doubt it would impress at those "parties" of yours. If you want get a product you won't regret, invest a little. I can see it will be used for screwing around purposes, but if you get addicted and decide to get a better digicam, that'll be $100 down the drain.

Its not to impress @ parties, it is just for screwing around at parties. The family has a 5mpx @ home and a good friend has a nice DV camera. All the reviews said it was cheap, but well built, so i think its a good buy for a poor college student.

Ok, pissed at gateway now. It seems their order server is down, so i cant check the status, as of friday it said your order is unable to be processed, but then it listed both items as order pending. I have a mysterious $60 something charge on my credit card without a merchant listed, and i called their order hotline, put in my order number. "We are unable to process your request, goodbye." Grah. Anybody else have crappy experience with gateway?

ahh yes, good old gateway, not one of the most popular stores to but from, but hey for that price it had better be worth the aggrevation, well hopefully you get what yah want, if not then you could always call the BBB, maybe that will light a fire under their asses!

Ok, their server is back up, i'm still confused. This page says "Unfortunately, we have not been able to process your order.", is a yet implied? The next page says order pending for both items. Cant find the appropriate picture, but everyone knows charlie browns exasperation, when he tilts his head back and all you can see is his mouth when he yells "Aahrg!". That pretty much sums up my mood at the moment...

After 2 calls and the customer service runaround (hold==hangup?) my SD card is coming tomorrow, and the camera is coming monday. Although still no change on the webpages and i've only been charged for the SD card. *sigh*

yes i viewed both pages the first page and the order status, dood next time go with someone else and not gateway! call up dell or hang a left towards ebay! or hang around here, theres always something here!

Yup, gateway had it the cheapest though, its what i wanted even if i have to trod through some **** to get it. Amazon has a nice gallery of it. Smaller than i though assuming those aren't giant sized car keys...

Memory Card came today, and thats all i've been charged for, so i guess its going alright. 512MB SD card. Had no idea those things were so small, our camera at home is a sony, memory sticks are at least twice that size...
