Default CPU Fan

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post here but I have been lurking for a long time, just haven't felt the need to say anything or ask anything yet.

Anyhow, today I bought an AeroMaxx fan for my xp 2600, greased it up and plugged it in, when I boot up I receive the message "CPU fan not working" and the annoying beeps that come with it. Now I took the side panel off and the fan is spinning. I went into bios and am monitoring the cpu temp (it is ideling alot lower than it was with the stock fan) but it will not detect that the fan is running.

So the most likley cause of this would be . . .
Defective fan, ie poor sauldering job or something like that?
Any other ideas?
Is there a way to disable the check for the fan upon boot up so that I can still use my computer?
(I relaly don't want to have to regrease my old fan as I just cleaned up haha)
If so, what precautions should I take, I set my critical temp to the lowest setting . . . anything else anyone can think of?

Thanks in advance

You can set the the cpu fan warning to disable that way it won't monitor the fan and set your temp shut down to 60c that way if the fan died you CPU will live. Also Make sure you have your cpu fan plugged into the right header on your motherboard.

Thanks for the quick reply.

After reading that I realized I have been staring dumbley at the "CPU Fan Detection" in my bios for the last 10 minutes haha.

Everything looks like it's running normally now, thanks for the help specialblend
