Default SATA performance on small network

I got the bid to replace a server at work - this PC serves 5 PCs data across the building. The data is in the form of propreietary software called Slueth and a database program called Pervasive program.

Anywho SCSI is expensive and I have NO SCSI experience so I quoted the machine with a 36 GB Raptor. I now question my choice. I fairly certain the Raptor can keep up with the lam requirements of the network, however my question is will I gain any serious advantage with a Raptor over a fairly quick 7200 RPM SATA drive??? For the same price I will be gaining a bigger hard drive and will I notice any real world speed difference???

Anyone have any experience in this department??

AnandTech did an article on whether RAID 0 was worth it -- but ignoring the point of the article, they also have benchmarks for Raptors versus some of the newer 120GB drives out there. (IMO this is better than the articles written when the Raptors first came out, since the other drives have improved since then.)

Bottom line is that a 36GB Raptor may, at best, net you a couple percent performance increase overall. In the "real-world" benches (i.e. not the "Pure Hard Disk Performance"), the 36GB Raptor's performance was very similar to the 120GB, 7200rpm drives.
