Is his PSU dead?

Alright guys, I've been IMed by some friend of a friend and he's asking me what I know about PSUs. NOTHING. All we know is that his computer won't turn on. The LED on his PSU blinks when he puts the plug in. There are a couple of things that could be wrong with his computer so we want to isolate whatever we can.

Question: I remember people saying there's an easy way to test wether a PSU is dead or not. I'm sure it's somewhere in the forum, but I couldn't find it. Any ideas? Ways to go?

He's too lazy to test. He's giving his computer minus the drives to me for $35! Woohoo! thanks Spectrum

Problem not fixed because of apathy. He preferred getting a new computer over trying to fix this one so he said he'll sell almost all of the parts to me for $35 dollars. I'll update you when I get them

I got the computer today and sure enough, it's a problem with the PSU I plugged a spare one of mine in to see and it hummed along nicely
