I just purchased a samsung 80gig Hd. I put it in as a slave and it worked great. I just reformatted my hard drives and reinstalled windows on my 40 giger and now it slows everything down immensly. If i remove the 80 giger then the computer works fine again. any suggestions? thnx for any help

Have you tried pairing it up with an optical drive?

No i havent, but what i dont understand is, it worked great till i reformmated and reinstalled xp.

Installed applicable chipset and/or IDE drivers?
Try setting both drives as cable select.

There is usually a choice between Master, Slave, and Cable Select on the HDD's jumper
block, I recall Samsung labeling they're cableselect as something like CSEL.
