get as much wattage as possible...and from a reputable company. You might want to think about using the premise of a new ps to justify purchasing a new case w/ a power supply...If a new case floats your boat, that is. (and you don't mind a basic 300-400w)

i don't see what the big deal is with brand PSUs, i've used branded till i got a new case with a higher wattage PSU on it, i decided to use this and its been fine, I see no difference.

what is the big deal with it?

a good brand PSU gives a more stable, reliable voltage. A cheap 400w PSU might only be able to hit 400w in a filckery sort of way, but a good 400w PSU can hold up to the numbers and give good clean power.

A solid PSU is arguably the most important part of a computer.
