Default Is my RAM dieing?

Ive got a stick of 512mb generic (i think, dont remember) DDR ram in my motherboard...its been in there for about 6 months. anyway it worked fine when i used my comp, but within the last month, ive noticed (using the Win 98 resources meter) that it is taking less and less stuff running to bring my memory down to low percentage free. Before, I could have plenty of stuff running, and my memory level would sometimes drop to 50% free, but now ive got 3 Internet Explorer windows and AIM open, and its at 27%....before it wouldve been around 75% free...could my memory be dieing? or overheating? thanks

I say run a Spybot and Adaware scan, plus an antivirus.

Just sounds like a lot of things are running in the background that shouldn't be.

Yeah I seond that - if your RAM was dieing you would be have stability issues and maybe even a failed post if it was bad enough. Although random lockups and the like can also mean spyware/virus problems. Run Adaware, your virus scanner and then try this online one for a second opinion.

OK your definitely trying the right things, let me tell ya about what happen to me two days ago. Our server at work runs Winblows 2000 and the Chief Deputy calls down to see if I can luck at it as Norton told him it had 2 viruses but didnt/couldnt clean them.

To make a long story short when I installed ANOTHER virus scanner it found 4 viruses. Run Spybot and it found like 50 some odd chunks of spyware - Adaware found 320 some more after SpyBot.

Running one spyware and virus program is more than alot of people do but if your really concerened run a couple.
