I'm currently at work, and my mom contacted me. She told me my PC at home is beeping like crazy. I immediately said, "*****." inside my head. I told her to go to my pc, and turn off the power switch on the PSU and unplug the power cable from it. She said my room was very hot and so was the PSU and the computer case. UH OH.
Stupid me forgot to ask her to look infront of the vapocase and tell me what temp it is. Anyways, I had her look at the compressor to make sure it didn't blow up I then had her check if there was any sign of water and the case and thankfully there wasn't.

I have four more hours here at work and I'm curious as heck what caused my cpu to alarm. Hopefully my cpu was cool and my room temperature caused my pc to alarm. But yeah,,, I doubt it.

If my system fried....I'm going to cry because it is my ultimate gaming rig and the folding@home master.

ouch sounds like the cooler went to sleep! well good luck man, from the lots of loud beeps, im guessing its reset, then found that the critical temp was passed and started whailing blue murder. With anyluck its probably kept the temp down as much as it can, but dont expect everything to be aok. My worst case scenario is that the compressors' mounting bracket, or what ever support it uses on the motherboard has slipped, or theres been a spike in your power supply which has caused the BIOS + compressor settings to reset. Rough guess there though.

It turns out that it was my backup UPS making the beeping sound and not my computer. The replace battery light was on when I got home. So luckily, all I need to do is replace a battery and it shouldn't alarm again.

As for the computer case being hot, I don't know how that happened. Maybe it was caused by my room temperature being to warm.

What kind of UPS is it? If it's an APC they will replace the battery for free if it's under 3 years old.

Kinda hard to diagnose from work, maybe some lessons to MoM for a just in case senario?...

My UPS is an APC Back-UPS Office 500 va. I think this UPS is almost three years now. Yikes..where is that receipt?

I sent back a $40 cheepy from circuit city with no reciept and they replaced the battery.

PS: I got all this info from a friend that works in the service department for the company.
