Thumbs up Keyboard in the dishwasher!

Ha that got ya goin, no just the Keys. Im wondering if keyboard keys are dishwasher safe to keep them clean and "brown sticky stuff" free. My main concern is obviously the lettering and symbols on all the keys getting rinsed off . If anyones tried this or knows of alternative methods to squeky clean keybs, post it on down here.

Thanks

Soak them in a baking soda/water solution or Coca-Cola (Pepsi will NOT work) and then rinse.
Coke will eat off pretty much any gunk.

your keyboard should be completely safe in the dishwasher. i've done this many times in the past and it works great, i only had one instance where the lettering on a couple of keys wore off but they were already half gone anyway.

a bit of advice though, do NOT use soap when you put it in. been told soap leaves a residue that can damage it. second do NOT use ultra hot water, just stick it in on a rinse cycle using wram/cold water. also do not let it run a "drying" cycle, the hot steam can screw it up as well.

when it's done just take it out and let it sit for a while, use a hair dryer after about an hour to make sure it's completely dry, then you're done. nice clean keyboard.

I've read of a few intances where its been done safely, but with the myriad of keyboards out there I'd say the results may vary.

I did it. it worked wonderfully. the keys did get a little more friction but a drop of vegie oil fixes that...

presonally i just go untill my keyboard gets too dirty.. then i chuck it out. Not economical to say the least.. but hey, im lazy..

But theoratcly... once all the the keys and keyboard housing should be perfecly dishwasher safe (provided they dont warp)

Whole keyboard, yep. I've done it before. I was made fun of by even my nerdier friends but, yeah, but it works now. The keys might weather just a little, but it works. Make sure you let it dry for a GOOD long time, though or else you will be typing gibberish. And you should really only do it if you're having trouble typing (i.e. keys are sticking)
