Default HP C4599 Photosmart Printer

An old co-worker of mine called me up and said he was having issues with his new printer.
So, I went over to his place and attempted to diagnose the issue. He had the geek squad and everyone in the book come over and attempted to get it to work.

It's brand new and everything appeared to be installed properly. For some odd reason, HP requires that after every cartridge replacement, It has to be aligned. I've attemted printing the page out and then throwing it on the scanner and then it fails to align.

I've went onto websites and printed everything fine except the black is not a true black. It's almost like it has no ink and uses the color cartridge to make a black color. But when I go into the HP properties it shows both cartridges are full.

Now, I think this is the funniest thing I've ever seen. I've owned Epson printers for years and have never had to go through an alignment process.

I think the lower quality is due to the fact it won't align the cartridges...

Default Re: HP C4599 Photosmart Printer

It sounds like to me a actual hardware failure with the print head or jets (Nozzles), I'm not a expert on this or anything but here is a link that you could read up on to try and clean it.

Smart Computing Article - How To Clean A Dirty Print Head

The other thing I would do because I know hp printer drivers can sometimes be very finicky is make sure you have the latest driver from the hp website if you already have the latest driver then try un-installing the driver and doing a clean install of the driver from the disc the printer came with. (I know this last bit sounds odd but sometimes older drivers just work better or have better functions for different tasks over others like alignment or head cleaning etc...).

I hope This helps.
