Default CD RW/DVD Drive. . .

I recently purchased this:
Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners

Got it today, installed. booted up fine. In WinXp, I popped starcraft into the drive. I had Windows explorer up, and I could see the filestructure of the disc, but it wouldn't run. Citing "NOT A VALID WIN32 APPLICATION". Yes, its a legit disc.

Next, tried "Live free or Die Hard", another commercial disc. Nope. Didn't read that either, I could still see the file structure, but can't access anything.

Guy from tech support was a 'tard and didn't help a bit. Already updated firmware, dude pretty much ignored everything I said, and told me that Starcraft not running was due to a copyright issue (I find that hard to believe).

The newegg reviews tell me DOA, can you guys confirm this? Any suggestions for upgrades?

Did you mess around in the drive properties window? Might be something in there that needs to be changed.

Nope I even tried removing it from the device manager and re-detecting.

I asked newegg if I could return the DOA and credit it to a better drive, no response yet.

Subject: Newegg.com - RMA>(Mail #01102008653573)*
Dear Customer,

Thank you for writing back to us.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We think that the shipping expense is not worth creating an RMA return for this item so we have decided to credit your account back for $22.99 to cover the cost of the item. Please allow 3-5 business days for this to be processed. We hope this will reimburse you some for any loss incurred. Please go back online and reorder the item if you wish and you will then receive it sooner than having the original item RMA returned. Thanks for informing us about this.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to email me directly and I will be happy to assist you.

Thank you,

Cooper Jia
