| Hey there everybody, Last week I bought some Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 RAM off eBay, brand new, never opened. Before this purchase, I ran SuperTalent DDR2-533. I've got a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 running an AMD Windsor 4600+ AM2. I had the SuperTalent running at a 266Mhz FSB. Since I got the Corsair and popped it in, I haven't been able to get the box running faster than 200Mhz FSB. The damn sticks won't even run on the settings the old SuperTalents would ![]() I'm pretty sure that all this hardware can handle 300Mhz FSB or better, just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried running 2.4Ghz @ 9x 266MhzFSB, 2.4Ghz @ 8x 300MhzFSB, and 2.4Ghz @ 7x 333MhzFSB... none of them work. I'm at a loss. If there's any additional info you might need to help diagnose the situation, just ask. Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated. Info: CPU: AMD 4600+ Windsor AM2 2.4Ghz 2000Mhz HT Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 / BIOS version F2 11/2/2007 (original) Ram: Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 (new) / SuperTalent DDR2-533 (old / ran 266FSB) VidCard: e-Vga Superclocked 8800GT PSU: Enermax 550W | ||

| Double post >.> But I did some poking around in my BIOS, and there was no direct way to change the fsb:dram ratio. So I updated the BIOS to the latest version, and while there still was no specific setting that would allow me to change the fsb:dram ratio, I went ahead and set the FSB to 400Mhz, and the CPU multiplier to 6x. As seen in the attachments, I was able to boot with these settings, and the RAM was now running at 480Mhz! I guess that's good. Although the system booted, it crashed as soon as I started playing music. I backed the FSB down to 370Mhz and am now running a multiplier of 370Mhz and the RAM is still running at 480Mhz... which I suppose is still pretty good. Do you OC pimps think I could get the 400Mhz FSB stable if I bumped the RAM voltage up from the stock 1.9V? If so, how much? | ||

| Most DDR2 should be fine at 2.0v, so long as you have good airflow in your case ![]() I have my Geil Ultra running at 2.2v (rated @ 2.1v) which needs some extra airflow, in the form of an 80mm fan bodged on top of the heatspreaders, to hit its max FSB OC. Having said that, I don't think you'll get much more than 480Mhz from that RAM, thats not a bad overclock for budget stuff. Good luck with it bro | ||

Heh, thanks. I wasn't even intentionally trying to overclock the RAM... but I'm not complaining Your help is appreciated. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
