Default Removing cooler backplate?

I recently got a new motherboard, but when disassembling the old setup I was unable to remove the backplate for my Tuniq Tower CPU cooler. It's absolutely stuck solid, so I was wondering if anyone can advise how to remove it? I'd shove a screwdriver under it and lever it off, but I don't want to damage the motherboard. I have some citrus-based TIM cleaner that I have thought of using - would this help loosen the glue?

I managed to get the Tower mounted on the new mobo but I had to use the backplate from my old Noctua cooler. I'd like to sell the motherboard but obviously I can't until I remove this backplate.

Try using a blow dryer/ hair dryer on it. The heat will loosen up the adhesive tape
that is used on some backplates :-)

No, Slaymate's recommedation of using a hair dryer is exactly what I would have recommended. It loosens up the adhesive without introducing an outside agent that could mess with the PCB or traces. The only caveat to the hair dryer is to ensure that you don't try to get too much heat too quickly. Keep it a distance away and allow the heat to slowly build until the adhesive softens up.

You should have no problems. Just do it as BA advised. I guess I should of
mentioned that as well :-)

That did it nicely...but I'll make sure not to use the sticky pad on a cooler backplate again - I don't think they actually help much. Cheers people
