Default Nothing every goes just right

New machines up and running with Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit, would have like 64 but didn't work ??? ya got me.

I cant figure a few things out.

I got a case (Silverstone TJ-09) that is supposed to be spacificaly for graphics card cooling,(special fan/intake system for cooling GPU) and the machine keeps crashing when I run a game, HL2 crashes, Supreme Commander locks up, crysis locked up.

It runs fine as long as i don't run a serious load on it, I left it on all night and no problems, it is a 8800 GTX.

Back of the card gets freeking hot.

Am I going to have to water cool the GPU just to get it to run right, dam.

Raid didn't work I have no clue how to install a raid 0 with vista, its going to be somthing to figure out before i get my SCSI card for my 15,000 RPM drives, (still don't have one)

Damit I just wan't to game.

By the way vista is fast as hell you just got to strip it down to the basics, turn off all the extra crap and it runs just as well as xp and a tad bit better. (it could very well be the dramatic difference in systems) Seeing as its based off xp it dosn't surprise me. Not to mention its also more backwards compatable if you strip off all the extra crap.

I'm going to get 2 more 120 mm fans today to see it this helps dam i want to play Supreme Commander. (just pick up some Antecs from best buy.)

Locks up it's gotta be heat. I installed every update i could find. Thats just what it has to be.

Sorry I just wanted to vent This is really pissing me off. LOL.

I did play the Tabula Rasa end of beta event and holy SH*T (sorry i had to) this machine can handle a crap load of stuff, game full settings and no lag at all woot.

Twizted did mention having to up the ram votage on all asus bords, not sure if this is causing the problem but if you got any ideas let me know. the machine is only recogizing 3.25 out of 4 gigs o ram.

Thanks.

EDIT: I might run to home Depot and get some duct so i can run it streight to my computer from the out side seeing as its about 40 F out their lol.

It's because you're running a 32-bit OS and it has to map memory access for the graphics card.

I only read your first paragraph or two. Who makes your video card ?
There have been probelms with alot of 8800 GTX's including mine, at first I thought it was an overheating problem as well when I ran hi end games and yes my card got as hot as the earths core. I had an XFX BTW.
Took me a long time to find out my problem but I discovered that alot of people with 8800's are having graphical issues.

I just tryed the Crysis demo and it crashed blue screen. And its not running hot anymore got 2 more 120 for it.

Also for some reason when I run Crysis it makes a weird screaming sound, it very faint but ive never heard anything like it before. And it changes depending on the menu im in.

I had same issues, I didn't discover it however , until I had the card a few months because I was plauing old games like BF2 which I could play all day long. Bioshock lasted about 5 mins, on low settings about 10 mins. I ran 3dmark fine so for a while I didn't think anything was wrong. I RMA'd the card took about a week to get it back.

RMA I was afraid of that, I've been reading around and it turns out on of the transisters or somthing on the card could be a recall part. YAY High pitch squeal when in the menus of crysis, unless you actual playing the game is the tal-tail feature of the problem.

Anyways people if you get a Striker Extreme and an 8800 GTX update your bios. This created worlds different in stability. It dosn't crash every time you put a load on it. Runs decent, I can still feel the bugs in the system but hopefully I'll get them worked out.

Unfortunutly I'm still going to need to RMA this card. Their is something wrong with it.
