I have a Dell Inspiron 1150, I got in it 2004 and up until now it has served me great. I upgraded the RAM to 1GB a few months ago and that helped a little but the other day I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't start, it would reach the Windows Screen, that would go away, hear a click and then a blue screen comes up saying

"Registry failure
The registry cannot load the hive(file):
*some stuff I couldn't make out*

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.
Please contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance."

and then a sizzling noise and it would go back to the "Start windows normally" screen

A video is included but youtube needs to approve it.


Anybody have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Yeah, I realized that while I was at school today, I just installed a copy of Vista I had laying around and it works, I had to strip a lot of features from Vista but oh well, what can you expect from a three year old laptop with no dedicated video. =P

umm, i know that if you start a comp up without have a heatsink on it and touch the CPU, you fingers will sizzle in a few seconds( classic noobie mistake) , but other than that... computer parts are suppose to sizzle.

Turn your volume up and watch the video I posted above, you can hear it.. no idea what it is but so far I'm working fine in Vista when I need to.
