| I just got done buying some Mushkin Level II Black PC3500 RAM (rated at 2-2-3-6 @ DDR 433) and managed to overclock it to DDR456 at those timings. Who said low latency modules don't overclock well? Now I'm running @ 3389 MHz (282 FSB) with RAM timings of 2-2-3-6. It doesn't get much better than that. And so another Mushkin fan is born.... ![]() | ||

| Shadowman0000---Intel; My limited personal experience with RAM modules from different manufacturers ranks them something like this: Mushkin>Corsair>OCZ>Geil. It could just be that this RAM has better memory chips than others, however (Winbond BH5). I think that should be one of the key things to look at before the manufacturer. Find out of the chips are good, then decide which company to buy from if they make the same RAM modules with these chips. Feral---No. | ||

| hmmm... I thought it was more like Mushkin>geil>ocz>corsair I was gonna swap out my ocz for some geil, maybe i'll reconsider. I know this though, I have my ocz running at 500mhz 2.5-4-4-5, I tried some corsair twinx LL 3500 1gb and 3200 LL 512mb, neither couldnt hit anywhere that. Bah i just want some ram that will handle an OC to 3.6ghz. ![]() | ||

| ECC memory is unnecessary for all but servers. They come at quite a hefty price, sacrifice speed for stability, and aren't offered in very high bandwidth modules (PC4000 and such). Just stick with non-ECC ram unless you have to. P.S.--ECC and registered RAM aren't the same thing. They are usually found together in the same module, but not always. On registered RAM the pins are buffered through a register. This reduces loading by buffering the control and address inputs. ECC is a circuit which detests and/or corrects memory errors. | ||
