Default Power Supply problems

My 500W X-Superalien PSU (sorry about premod) supplies powe fine, but neither coldcathode fan turns or lights up, and after about 5 minutes it starts to make a burning smell. The first time I sent it back to frozenCPU, they said it wasn't faulty and sent it back to me. I then proceeded to test the PSU on my backup rig and ran it with no PC and just a few fans hooked up to it. The fans would not spin or light up either time.
I then proceeded to send it back to FrozenCPU a second time. This time they said it wasnt faulty, and sent me back what they said was a diffrent power supply, but it had the same scratch marks on the acrylic that I had stupidly made unpacking it and it was sent in the same box and packing as the one i sent to RMA. Has anyone had experiences with their PSU fans not working and does anyone have some sort of solution for this problem?

I was sort of thinking of taking 2 regular 80mm fan and replacing the ones wired to the PSU's circuit board. I would then hook these fans to one of the molex connectors, as the thing does supply power. Are there any problems with this?

The problem is with the fans. Thanks for your comments.

I would call FrozenCPU and explain to a human the problems you've been having, including receiving the same PSU back in the mail. Then I would push the issue.

If it is only the fans and you are willing to deal with it, fans are simple to switch out.

I have called twice and talked to a human being both times. If it wasn't just the fans that were faulty I would force the issue. Besides, these shipping costs are starting to add up. I'm not going to buy anything else from frozen CPU that has moving parts.

You shouldn't have to switch out crap. You bought something, you should have gotten exactly what you paid for. I'd call...bitch up a storm, and demand my money back. Tell them you will absolutely never deal with them again unless they send you a new PSU.
