| The rig Im building is going to be running 3 HDs (2 RAID 1 data drives, 1 partitioned dual boot OS drive). I plan on mounting all of them into 1 drive cage, which will have a fan at the end of it. Is there any cooling advantage/disadvantage to mounting them upside down? | ||

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | Just whatever you do, do not mount them vertically. Horizontally is the way to go since the gravitational pull on the disks spinning 7200RPM(or higher) will be equally distributed. And yes, the chips on the bottom of the drive does get quite hot compared to the top metal side so you will want to make sure air is flowing over them. | |
