![]() | I just got a HP DVD 200i and it didnt come with drivers. I can get the drivers from HP for $20 but I have to wait almost 2 weeks for them. Is there any tricks to getting Win XP serv pack 1 to recognize it? I have Burn4 free and it recognizes the DVD200i but says it needs an ASPI driver. I loaded Adaptecs ASPI driver for Win XP but when I try to burn it starts then locks the manchine up. Also XP sees it as a DVD200j SCSI drive and I cant get windows to change. Any tricks to get this to work short of ordering the HP discs? Thanks for any info. |

| Mastah Overclocker | Did you try the HP websight?, I found drivers for my CD burner there and downloaded them. How about using Nero for burning Cd's, alot of people have good luck with it, and it's free. Also you can try something like driverguide.com, they might have what u are looking for. Also try and remove it in Device manager, reboot, and see if it recognises it correctly. ![]() Oh, and make sure you have the latest windows updates too.

![]() | I uninstalled the HP drive, physically moved it to Primary IDE on the mobo controller, and rebooted. Win XP now sees it as a IDE drive and loaded a ASPI driver. But when I fire it up in Burn4 Free it just sits there and keeps asking for a disc. I have DVD=R discs which the drive is supposed to support. I uninstalled Burn4Free then d/l Nero 6.0 demo and it saw the drive but said I had to have DX9 so I d/l DX9 and installed it. Nero let me set up everything and then just kept repeating the waiting for drive to be ready mesage. Frustrated after not getting Nero running I reinstalled Burn4 Free thinking it needed DX9. It started and said burning disc, then immediately said disc finished and gave me this error message "05:07:00:390 - Burn data process done with error : "WRITER ERROR [MEDIUM ERROR (UNABLE TO RECOVER TABLE-OF-CONTENTS)]" What the hell do I do now? Nero wont work, Burn for free wont work and I keep getting errors or it does nothing. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help! EDIT : UPDATE I tried a CR-r disc and it burned that fine. So I know the drive hardware is working. So then I decided to try a few diferent DVD+R discs thinking I might have a bad one. 2nd one worked and drive is burning now. So Nero 6.0 works fine. Earlier problem was related to having DVD drive on a Promise ATA 100 card. XP was seeing the drive as a sSCSI drive because XP sees the Promise card as a SCSI controller. So... 1) Installed the HP DVD Writer 200i onto the mobo IDE controller so XP sees it as a IDE drive. It is set as Primary IDE master 2) Installed DX9A 3) Installed Nero 6.0 4) Got a good disc and it works fine Now as soon as Nero is done I will try it with Burn4 Free. Burn 4Free has the drive listed in their compatability database so I know it should work with it. Sooo I now have my AIW Radeon working and my DVD burner working. All is good in the world. Thanks for the info and help. Your ideas on stuff to check got me thinking in the right direction. Last edited by Anlushac11; 30-October-03 at 06:07 AM. |
