| After a brownout in my neighborhood, I unfortunately discovered that my Enermax power supply (EG365P series) died, and would not boot up anymore. Since it is outside of warranty, I proceeded to disassemble it and make use of the nice ball-bearing fans & gold fan grilles inside. Lo and behold, I saw a tiny little cylinder fuse, about a bit longer than a centimeter, located on the PCB close to the exhaust fan. After removing it, sure enough, I found that the fuse was blown! So, if you've also got a dead Enermax PSU (and I'm guessing the other "good" brands of PSUs like Antec, Sparkle, etc. probably have fuse protection too), before you chuck it, have a look for a blown fuse inside. You could buy yourself a one-buck replacement fuse instead of another $70 (Canadian) PSU. ![]() EDIT: Be CAREFUL when you take apart a PSU, those capacitors store a lot of juice, even when the thing is unplugged for days! Some people drain the capacitors with a screwdriver (obviously NOT an all-metal one!!), I just take care what I touch, and use plastic or other tools when poking around inside. I won't be responsible if you give yourself a joy-buzzer jolt and put yourself in cardiac arrest! ![]() | ||

| Thanks y'all. Unfortunately, I've been far too busy to spend much time here, although I'm getting that itch to do more modding, and I'm already starting to scratch it. I'm making a "play Linux box" to teach myself more about Linux, and I've already bought a case to mod, though it won't be as outrageous as the Gargoyle case. HW specs are pretty boring, Duron 900/128M RAM/Soyo K7VEM mobo, and it comes with a crappy case & PSU that I'm setting aside while working on the one I'm modding. As you all know me, you know I'm not gonna mod a $200+ Lian Li or Antec (or clone thereof). However, I do need some advice on where to obtain a specific item. I need clear plastic tubing (solid, not hollow) that is approximately 10 mm diameter. I've seen some plexi and acrylic tubing but it's a bit too expensive for what I intend to use it for. I just need to be able to heat it up over a stove element and twist it. Ideas? Cheers, and thanks again for the welcome! EDIT: D-W, I wonder if you can track down more of those low-profile 80mm fans from those hard drive coolers? They look better than the usual boring 80mm fans, and they're quieter, as well as having a smaller 'dead-zone' in the middle. Please let me know.
