Windows ME (it has a 2.5 GB HDD so XP is out of the question)

I have Internet Connection Sharing on both rigs. I can access teh internet on both computers. But for some reason when I host a game on teh 500 it runs and all but nobody can see it on the internet. I forwarded Port 27015 and it still does this. I can join teh game from a LAN though. That's wot I built teh 500 for. Anyone got any ideas cuz I'm about all out.

One more thing: Both computers have teh same IP, at keast whatismyip.com said it was, and like three other sites. wtf?

what type of lan connections do you have?(cable modem/switch/router)etc

Here's my setup. Teh Dell has a Linksys Router on it, DSL. It routes an IC to my server, which routes an IC to my 1.3 via LAN cable (Linksys 5-Port Hub i got for free and wanna mod soon with blue LED lights )

THIS Router?

Is your server rig the first machine to see the internet connection? Is it at the start of the chain?

What exact device is the internet connection plugged into?

The original IC is plugged into the Dell. It is the first to recieve service. And yes that is the router we have. I hosted a server on my 1.3 and it worked fine.

Why don't you have the IC plugged into the router? Then you wouldn't even need ICS on the Dell.

You say all you've done is move the server from the 500 to the 1.3, and change the operating systems, and that it worked before and not now? I'm just trying to clarify things here a little.

ok here was the original setup that worked

the Dell was configured the way it is now. I only had a 1.3 and the server ran off it. Unfortunately I could not join the game because the 1.3 was the only rig I had at the time. It recieved a wireless connection via teh same exact reciever that's on the 500. So yes all I really did was move the server from the 1.3 to the 500.

Possibly a stupid question but do you have any firewalling software on the server? And has it HL2 been granted access to the web?

I said this before I will say it again:
YOU CANNOT RUN A GAME SERVER IF IT HAS A PRIVATE IP!
You must have the public IP or DmZ assigned to the HL server in order for players to join!
No offense but I need to get my point across!

Not on the server but I do on the router. I had to forward Port 27015 to get it to work with the 1.3

BTW the Dell isn't mine it's my parents.

And how do I go about assigning an IP to teh 500?
