| Etiquette & English Gentleman |  4way MOLEX gender question Basically, which is "male" & which is "female" ?  I want to order some from Maplin (part #'s JW64U & JW65V), but, most unhelpfully, they use the same picture for both parts, which shows both the male & female connectors. Every other link I've followed doesn't say which is which, neither do the PSU & peripheral specs I've looked at. Looking at the ones you find on a PSU, I'm thinking the plastic housing looks "male" ... but the connectors are "female". Looking at the other sort on fans, CCs, etc, the housing looks "female", but it has 4 pins in it ("male"). I need to know as I want just a handful of the type you find on PSUs, and an industrial quantity of the other sort for fans etc - I don't want to make a mistake & end up with a shed load of connectors it'll take me decades to get through... I'm somewhat perplexed that I don't already know this, but I've never actually had to _buy_ the connectors on their own - I've always cannibalised old PSUs, peripherals & sometimes y-splitters to get the plugs/sockets I've needed. Any help appreciated - especially if it's a link to a pic of one or other of the connectors with big writing next to it saying "this is male (or "female" as appropriate), dumbass!"  | |

| Etiquette & English Gentleman |  DOH ! There was me being clever & searching by the Molex part number & looking for specs, when all I need to do was Google "male molex connector " and "female molex connector ". DOH !  | |

... that's probably the best way to remember ... I think we should refer to them as "gentile" & "kosher" instead of "male" & "female" in future
Actually I had a proper, ininterupted 7 hours for the first time in three weeks  I blame the hard morning I had, myself ... I went to three local computer shops to try and get a USB mini B cable. Simple enough, except that all three had closed down since I last visited them I bought one off eBay in the end .. I could have saved myself a couple of hours hassle doing that in the 1st place  | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
