Default ratarded DVD PLAYER! GRRRRRR

ok heres my new rig

Anthlon XP 1800+ OC'ed to 2400+
512 mg pc3200 ram
40 gig 7200 rpm 2 mg cache
Radeon 9600 pro
16x DVD


I put in any DVD and i can start it in either Windows media player or ATI DVD player and it freaks after 2 seconds and the WHOLE computer locks up. I tryed de-clocking the anthlon to no avail. Please help......

You say this happens with any DVD, what about any CD-Rom or RW?

Makes no sense, you update VIDEO drivers and your DVD-ROM issue is resolved...what planet are you on mot19?

Usually, (at least with PowerDVD) it uses hardware acceleration by default, and sometimes with that enabled it'll lock up. it happened to me, i turned hardware acceleration off in PowerDVD and dvds worked fine. Got new drivers, issue was resolved
