![]() | when you shut off your computer....is it better to push the power button off on your monitor or let it stay on with no signal being sent to it ?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | quick, stupid answer: yes ![]() EDIT--Let me ask another question to hopefully better answer yours. Do you leave the TV on if a storm has knocked all the cable/satelittle....whatever out?

![]() | thanks guys ![]() I'm wondering if me leaving it on all the time could have been part of the cause of those stupid scan lines and problems i was having with my monitor (as i posted in a thread called "monitor help plz") if anyone remembers. I'm gonna turn it off now ![]() edit: heres another stupid question... what about when you leave your compter on but go afk for an hour or two...is it better to turn off the power to the monitor or just leave the screen saver and energy saving options on?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Depends on your definition of better. Better for your monitor, better for your electric bill, better for the environment, etc. Personally, if I am going to be gone for a while I turn mine off. But that could just be because I am SOMEWHAT energy conscious, not because it is necessary. |

| King of the Noobs! | sw0nald...there is no such thing as a stupid question but there is such a thing as a stupid answer! I leave my monitors on 24/7 regardless if I have the computer on or not. I have never burned out a monitor or had problems with them. At work, all our monitors stay on, and they last years and years. Screen savers are only for looks now, unlike in the past they kept the screen from "Burning". It's your own personal preference if your gone for a few hours if you want your monitor on or off. Zennzzo...I think he lives at home, thus he does not pay the electric bill.

| Pow - Hoe playa | pssh... i leave this thing on 24/7 usually unless someone comes along and yells at me to turn it off. i meake up for the energy saved with the LCD instead of a CRT by not turning off the lights in my case and running a GPU intensive screensaver. i wonder if a 9800 draws more energy than a telivision set. im going to go install folding on my dad's computer now.now if your monitor sucks and dosent automaticly turn off then you need a monitor that dosent suck
