| Apex Tech Fanatic | Hey everyone, Just a quick question, on my SOYO P4X400 Dragon Ultra Platinum edition mobo, there is a molex input connector right above the AGP slot. I was wondering what that was for and whether I should have something plugged into there. The slot is an AGP Pro 8x slot. Thanks everyone!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you dont have it plugged in ?? that's for giving added stability to your CPU certain motheboard brand wont even turn on if that plug is missing ... check if your PSU has an extra 4 pin molex ..... ( 2 yellow 2 black wires ) and plug it there ....

![]() | Truthfully it really depends on the board on which reply is more accurate. The on-board molex originally came from server grade motherboads for stability during high or extreme power demands, for a more stable system. However I have also seen more consumer grade motherboards come with specialized cabling for powering your AGP Power hungry cards. (Personally though they are a little rare in comparison to the power stability). Best answer Actually read the manual it will tell you for sure. Just downloaded the manual and reviewed it. In your motherboards case it is classified as a peripheral power connector. So in this case it's option number 2! That should help.... Last edited by TeraByte; 12-October-06 at 08:19 PM. |

| Apex Tech Fanatic | Yup it does say Peripheral Power connector and i thought it was for the video card. So essentially since I have the video card powered by the power supply, I can leave that connector empty. That and I ran out of molex connectors and would have to get a splitter molex adaptor or get a dedicated cable for it :-p. Thanks everyone!
