Default I hate Xcelite screwdrivers, and stubborn heat sink clips

I managed to f*** something up on my ECS board and it wont post on my 850 or my 1.3 I think I hit something on the board while attempting to push down those pesky Volcano 6 heatsink clips, so I'm on my 450 MHz K6-2, with a 32 MB PCI nvdia video card, time for a new sig pic

yeah i feel your pain. i hit the board acouple times putting on a volcano 6. or was it a 7. i also smacked the board when putting on as volcano 9. which i did some board scratching again getting its POS self out of my comp. it turns out everything worked alot better when i used the free from some trade show silicone graphics screwdriver. but now i dont have that problem since zalman has a special tool for their heat sinks and the XPC uses bolts. so try different screwdriver. and look for the SMD component you chipped off. then clean it up send it back underwarrenty and say its their fault.

Isn't that creaking sound motherboards make when you push on them just freeky. It always sounds like dollars going down in flames to me!!

Always had problem of slipping screwdrivers with my K7SEM, scratched up the board real good, even though it had that protective stickers under the notchs where you put the screwdriver to install the heatsink on the motherboard, and it still works. Only board I had a screwdriver slip on. After that I invested $19.99 in a small screwdriver set from Crappytire and no slips at all. Best $20 I had spent in such a long time.

Is it just me or do Xcelite screwdrivers smell funny? I've always hated that smell. I assume its some odd plastic they use.

For mounting and unmounting heatsinks, I have a 3/16" blade 8" long screwdriver that I locked into a vice and put about a 45 degree bend about 2" above the blade. Works great for getting into tight cases and I haven't slipped with it yet in several hundred heatsink installs.

Umm, have you guys heard about the credit card trick? Use a C.Card to protect the area aroud the HSF clip, so if you do slip you hit the card not he board.

Why do motherboards make that creaky sound when you put on the heatsink anyways? Why do motherboards make that crunchy sounds when you put RAM in anyways?

in the next few days I'll have my Gigabyte mobo back from a BIOS job I had done since I couldn't do it properly, but it wont go past 1.4 Ghz

anyway I made a sig pic for it, took me 30 mon. in PS but I like it

If anyone wants me to make them a sig pic with their mobo in it like mine i'll do it, just send me your specs

lol that's exactly what i did, but what's funny now os I got that cooling, on my K6-2 450, I swear it can't run at more than 90 degrees, I dabbed a $h!tload of Arctic Silver Ceramique on it.

my biggest problem with my volcano 6cu is that my screwdriver gets stuck in the clip. and i mean stuck, i can pick the board up by the screwdriver.....

EDIT:
arctic silver doens't work better just by putting more on...
the best way is how the instuctions say.....

arctic silver and arctic silver ceramique are two different compounds. arctic silver requires a small amount and too much will overheat the processor, ceramique can be dabbed on without overheating, and i have a small 2 or 3 gram thing of it, and I have spanned it on 5 processors including multiple applications on my 1.3, had to clean out dust in the heat sink, and i have enough for two more rigs.

AS Ceramique` is the shizizzle pizzle. It's #1 in my book of thngs to put between my GPU and heatsink.
