| Hello everyone, its your favorite noob NiSm0 back once again... this time in the form of AMD. Now for my next comp purchase i was wondering why not try AMD? i know the new 3.2GHz P4 sounds like a killer machine with overclocking potential but i was wondering if AMD's newest set would be better / faster then the P4 3.2GHz set. Please help me with this b/c i dont know that much about AMD. Thanks -- NiZ | ||

| that sounds cool but would the AMD overclocked run asfastor faster then the new P4 @ 3.2GHz and if overclocked u think u could squeeze it to like 3.4GHz. Also... what about one of those Silver Dragon Mother Boards. I think thats what their called. What makes them so special. They seem to be all the rage on the PR forms | ||

| an AMD OC'ed would definatley have better gaming than the 3.2 even if it was OC'ed also... i know that for sure, plus the money you save... the hundreds of dollars you'd save could help you get a hell of a grtaphics card... i have no experience with OC'ing pentiums but a 3.2 could make it well past 3.4... | ||

| so whats the hottest / fastest amd on the market now and what mobo would i need for it? Im not planning on overclocking yet cause i dont know how to do that at all, and I dont even know how to build my compy by myself yet either. Im a true n00b but the comp im on now is a custom one. So without overclocking is the amd better then the p4 and what is the best amd / mobo to use? | ||

| like the guys said bro, if you want an awesome overclocking AMD processor look no further than the xp 1700 jiuhb dltec or a 2500 barton. But currently the fastest AMD is the XP3200, and probably not as well of an overclocker... i'd go with the XP2500 barton. As for motherboards, i think your best bet would be the Abit NF7-S rev 2.0 for overclocking... there are other alternatives like Epox and Asus which also have mobos that will oc well | ||

Nah...they're not very good for the $$$ IMO. They can't hit 400FSB and you can't run memory at 400MHZ and get performance out of it since it's actually NOT supported by the chipset. It is a nice stable board but you can get better for a lower price. If you're looking for a nice silver board, go with the nForce2 Jetway Kocab18P@ Dealsonic.com. That'll be the mobo I upgrade to...who knows when that will be though But if you don't need a silver mobo, then go with one of the nForce2's all the other pimps are listing since I'm not sure of what performance you'll get out of it. | ||||||||||||||||||||
