Thumbs up Abit NF7 Bios Updates & Nvidia Drivers

This is for the many folks here who use the Abit NF7 series motherboards. I thought this might come in handy and would save some folks some time from having to look elsewhere.

I will try and keep this topic as up-to-date as I can.

Abit NF7 versions 1.0-1.2: Click Here for BIOS 21

Abit NF7 version 2.0 ONLY: Click Here for BIOS 18

And here is a windows based BIOS flashing program that does the job quite well and I recommend it highly.

Abit FlashMenu: Click Here

I take no responsiblity if you screw up your computer. I am assuming that if you download these, you know how to flash your BIOS.

Happy Flashing!

Talking Latest Nvidia Drivers

Hello Pimps and Hoes,

It's your friendly neighborhood FoeHammer here to give you the low down on the latest drivers from our favorite motherboard chipset maker: Nvidia.

I am pleased to inform you that the new chipset drivers are out and DO NOT include the absolutely terrible IDE drivers they have cursed us with in the past.

Click Here to download the 2.45 drivers.

Be sure to read the instructions if you do not know how to install these drivers.

Again I remind you to, I take no responsiblity if you mess up. It's all on you.

Happy Downloading!

The chipset drivers are the drivers that run the motherboard itself. They act as the interface between the motherboard and the OS.

On the link there are instructions on how to properly install the drivers. Perhaps I should have made that more clear on the driver post.

As for flashing the ABIT bios use the new windows based utility. It automatically identifies your motherboard and downloads the correct bios for it. As well as it is rock stable unlike the MSI version. Just donÂ’t do this in a lightening storm or if your internet connection is flaky. Otherwise the Program is awesome you can get it from ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/fae/flashmenu120.exe

Bios question:
I have updated an my old Asus board (very good live update) a while back, and will update my new Abit soon. In general, is it Ok to just use the latest bios, or do you need to go one step at a time (v2 to v3 to v4 or just go from v2 to v4)
A friend of mine last year went straight to the latest version on his MSI (floppy flash) and ended up corrupting it, and killed it.
Does that have anything to do with it, or did he just screw up?

not very true... heres what u can do if u have a flaky connection Download flashmenu and then go and download the normal updates... then from the menu select Update From File and point to the file u just dl (and possible extracted) and bingo itll do it for you. This is a good way for those with 56k. Usually double check a dl by re downloading that way u can check if u possible got a some skreweups on the way cause of server congestions or lil time outs. (when u redl i mean just redl it if it saves all the way in a sec then its dled good)

so even if u have phoneline or a sucky laggy coneection like satalite net u can still enjoy the easy flashing tool

FoeHammer, this is an excellent thread!
Timed just perfect
Upgraded to this board last week and it realy showed me how crappy my old Asus A7S333 Mobo was. This board unlocks my Cpu Multiplier, locks my Agp, and finaly gives me a way to adjust voltages.
I was just about to update my bios, so it's kinda like a supplement to the manual for me.
