Default Mobo Opinions!

Ok, I've narrowed my choices to these boards:

Asus A7n8X
Epox 8RD3A+
Abit NF7-S
Gigabyte GH-7N400Pro

And Possibly the DFI Lan Party NForce 2 (If anyone has used this or knows about it)

Basically I want something good for overclocking, and I want the Onboard sound, I'm tired of my Sound Blaster Live.

Thanks

my vote is very biased, but I beleive you will be more than happy with a NF7-S mobo, I have 2 of them and have one with at 1700 OC'ed to 2.4Ghz, and the other has a 2800 OC'ed to 2.42Ghz. The mobo on both systems still have plenty of headroom for further overclocking.

Abit NF7-S, and the new version v2.0 of the board is available everywhere, but no e-tailers are marking them so unless you drop them an email I don't think you will know untill you actually get the motherboardf.

Though I have a feeling that NewEgg stocks Rev. 2.0 for $123

When they respond to my email I will let you know the revision they carry.

They ignore my email's, I suggested to jcarkeys to try to contact them himself.

Pffft I am calling them now...

Ok I got a hold of a rep....
They dont know what revision they carry
She said check customer reviews on it, and I did, seems that the board they carry is indeed Revision 2.0
Check out the Customer Reviews

It seems like these four will provide very similar performance so it's just a choice of brand?

You cant go wrong with any of those 4 boards. I have the epox 8rad+ and it rocks. The newer version Ive heard some people having problems but they were probably trying to push the board to far and burning it up. Even though i love my epox board id have to say go with the Abit or Gigabyte. Those are the 2 best nforce boards on the market right now.

Does anyone know if these boards have support with drives over 133 gigs (or whatever), or is a controller card needed?

My vote goes toward the gigabyte 7n400 pro, mainly because it has 4 ram slots and BA says its a good board.

It's over 128, something to do with how fdisk reads BIOS information. The board has to support a 48 bit logical block. I know the NF7-s will support any drive you put in it with the latest BIOS.

the DFI Lan Party is a neat little board, it has all those damn flourescent things on it and all around is a good deal if you are doing extreme stuff with your case
