F2, F8, F12, or DEL
Try em all, those are the only key's I've seen used and I have repaired a buttload of OEM systems

none of those work, seems to "auto reset" when I use the screwdriver and tweezers. Where any drive,optical or hdd, is changed, a screen comes up recognizing the change, then boots to windows...don't cha just love "free" work on friends' comps!!!

heaven forbid, but you might just trying to look in a manual! Or, you could just get the model number then google for it, in case you haven't already. You could just try running your fingers over the function keys, see if that boots it into a bios

Throttling F-10 at mach 2 did it! thanks outcast it almost made the "how far can a compaq fly record.
Btw the case isn't original so the #'s wern't too easy to get...duhhh.

speaking of compaq's and HP's can you Overclock them with the bios the company gives you? if they do then i am gonna try it on my cuz's computer (n00b) bought it from circuit city for $1800

no, you can't. They give you an utterly stripped down BIOS, that generally suck. They don't want you to spend less money on something more powerful, it's all about the money. Sorry

Oh, and Zen, wasn't insulting your intelligence or anything, just a logical step that many people skip
