BFD, look at the price difference.

On newegg:
P4 3.2GHZ = $730
XP 3200 = $442
Difference = $288

Bang-for-your-buck
I'll stick with AMD

the 1700+ is very favorable because of its very low price tag and with the proper stepping (JIUHB) it can be overclocked immensely

i forgot how high some people got their 1700+ to.

I ran mine up to 2505 and it was fine. I also upped the FSB to 420 and no problem. The thread is here somewhere. I run it around 2200 normally while playing games and folding.

Ah, here's the link:

Edited for proper link.

fu3lman got his to 2ghz with a 400mhz fsb with a 7 dollar heatsink and fan.
Also Im sorry but benchmarks to me are worthless. Ive built 2 P4 machines with 800mhz fsb on springdale boards. One with 256mb of ddr400 and one with a gig. They preformed entirely different. The part being that the 2.4 with 256mb of ram was much quicker than the 3.0 with a gig of ram. Everything loaded faster.
My point is that all systems are not equal even within the same brand. So benchmarks are worthless to me. If it does what you want at the speed you want is what I look at. Just my 2 cents.
