Default Asus A8n-Sli Premium...standby.

I am trying to build this computer for a friend of mine:

AMD Athlon X2 3800
Asus A8n-sli Premium
Corsair XMS3200
Thermatalk 500w
Dvd burner
WD Sata 80gb
eVGA 7800gt

I connect everything to the motherboard and press power. The fans kick on but the Standby light on the motherboard stays on and no posting at all. Monitor goes into powersave mode. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. All three power supply connectors are plugged into the Motherboard. Video card is plugged in as well as dvd burner and harddrive. Motherboard is grounded. WTF? I should have plenty of power coming from the 500w powersupply. I've tried looking in the Motherboard User Guide and couldn't find out what would be causing this problem. Please help. Thanks.

You could start by going to barebones config (CPU and HDD) and see if it spits out any beep codes. Then add RAM and check for beep codes again. Then HDD, etc. Of course if you don't get beep codes the first time that should give you an idea.
Also Thrill Kill recently posted a thread on mobo troubleshooting here.

Thanks for the info godfoot. Has anybody heard anything about this particular Mobo needing a Bios update before it will accept Amd X2 cpu's? I hope this is just a rumor because I only have the one CPU for this build.
