Default What brand of memory?

I have a GA-8SG800 mobo that supports both DDR333/DDR400 memory. My question is what type/brand of memory would you suggest for a modest College student budget?

I too am on a budget, and wish to do some mad overclocking.

I have ordered this ram:

If you are gonna stick with that Single-Channel DDR mainboard, then I would get a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS PC2700, and if you are overclocking then I would step up to PC3200
512MB Corsair XMS PC2700@$80 & PC3200@$112

You going DualDDR soon?

Geil DDR has proven to be OK for O/C'n especially the GoldenDragon series.

The specs on this board says I can add 2gb worth of DDR333/400. So should i get one stick of 512 or 2x256?
I'm still new to ram.

I appreciate all your guys help.

If it's an nForce 2 board, get the 2 sticks, cause then you can run it in dual channel mode, which basically means cheap performance upgrade

If the board does not support dual channel memory, and I don't believe it does, then a single 512 is usually the better choice!

Even on a budget it will always be cheaper to do it once right, instead of half-step then to what you should have got in the first place!!

Are you saying the twinmos 3200 is a "half step"?

If so, I would disagree. It is kick butt ram that is cheap because it doesn't have the cosmetic heat spreaders and the corsair name.

Don't get me wrong, Corsair is awesome and I recommend it all the time!

But if I can get pc3200 that people are readily running up to 2-2-2-5-1T at 208 - 215 FSB for $75 less ....... and I am on a budget ..... sort of a no brainer.
