alwyas glad to help

it is useful when you get your new chip to take a peak at the numbers not just like 1800 xp 2700 3200

same goes for the amd 64 as well

that is only part of it though for instance why would your chip overclok high or lower even if we bough then on the same day ...... let just say they were even consective chips off the line for argument sake

when amd tests them and they dont com up to par to meet exact spec then the chip isnt tossed it just get rebranded and downgraded if you will so take the two chip he has they both could have easily been 3200's at the factory but didnt meet spec so the 2700 was downgraded for instance from 3200

with that in mind when you look at the steppin and things look funny with say cpu id progs youll think to yourself that i have a 2700 thant operates at 2.167 and i can overclock to say 2.267 that would be with in the specs of a 3200 even though it is not labled as one......

hope that helps

That whole rating system is a bit weird, but I can see why AMD did it. They Basical;y said "Well This is how our CPUs fare up against Intels, but we still Pwn them "
