Default Strobe Light in case

Hey,
I was thinking of putting a strobe light in my case and hooking up to my hard drive activity light, so it flashes when the drive is being used. As I do not know anything about electrictiy, I would appreciate any advice that I could I recieve.
Thanks,
Dave

Your hdd header probably won't be good to trigger the strobe. Check out this tidbit on optoisolators to couple your strobe to your hdd header.

Here is a link to ZapWizard's site where he is doing something of the same as what you want. I'm sure you can derive somthing to suit your needs from it.

moreily, just a word to the wise, i do alot of work with lights and special effects and just wanted you to know that a strobe will get crazy hot if left on any length of time. so just keep in mind that you will want a way to turn in of when you're doing things like defrag, or anything with constant disk activiity. you might be better served just hooking up a bunch of superbright white LED's to your harddrive monitor, as the drive it self will make them flicker pretty fast.
