| Apex Techie Wannabe | I should've asked about this problem before. About 1 week ago my comptuer was doing 3 beeps, now its down to 2 beeps. I'm not sure what the beeps mean for an ASUS A8V motherboard. Today I started up my comptuer and I found a BIOS failure, stating that I had no BIOS installed and I needed a boot disk to start that installation. I then restarted my PC and the problem was fixed. What might be causing that problem? Regards | |

| The beeps are for determining whats wrong in the bios . there are long and short beeps in different combinations. read your manual ,it should eplain everything. If all else fails try clearing your Bios (CMOS). If the problem persists It might be that you need a new CMOS battery for your Motherboard Last edited by RBIEZE; 16-March-06 at 03:21 PM.. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I've read the book over and over but I don't see where the beep code would be. When i restarted there was a short and long beep. Would hte beep code be called "Interrupt Assignments"? If so, I'm having a hard time trying to understand the chart.. IRQ and Priority. | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Alrighty, I figured out the problem. In terms of the beeps, ASUS tech said it was a USB problem, so I shutdown unplugged all my USB hardware except my mouse and then startup, only the one normal beep came. So that problem was 50% fixed. He then told me to download the new USB controller updates, and that made the issue 100% fixed. Now for the BIOS failure, all I did was update from 0207 to 0219 which helped. I got another error after flashing, it was a CMOS Checksum Bad error, which means that you have either set the BIOS to default (reset it) or flashed it, and its not a problem. The error basically says" Hey, you did something to your BIOS and I set it everyhting to default, sop check what I changed and change anything you want accordingly". *ALWAYS FLASH THROUGH THE FLOOPY DRIVE, NOT THE FLASH PROGRAM* So all in all, this was an expensive day (long distance phone calls) but my problem was fixed thanks to RBIEZE and the ASUS techs. Much Appreciated RBIEZE! | |
