Default Help Help Help Please Respond

after testing my water system for leaks (there were none) i put everything in there and then there was a huge leak. It leaked off of the vid card connector and then onto the sound card. from there it went onto the motherboard. Yep you guessed it, it went into the pci slot.

I have dried every bit of water i have found and then blown everything dry with compressed air.

Is my system scrap or slavageable??

compressed air from an air compressor is a no-no. they have moisture in them, and defeat the purpose. If you blew it out with canned air, and it wasn't powered at the time, if you let it sit for awhile to dry, it should be cool.

Was the comp powered up at the time? Please tell me you had appropriate coolant?

I salvaged a wet video card once, after a leak that occured while gaming.

I left it sitting for three days with a fan blowing on it.

To ensure that PCI card is dry, repeatedly seat and remove a card until it is bone dry every time you pull it out.

If you were powered done at the time, were using proper fluid, and are patience enough to wait while it thoroughly dries .... there is a good chance all will be ok.

Good luck bro! Where did it leak from?

yeah it was from a can. I know that air from a compressor blows out some water. learned that the hard way when i had to blow up some inner tubes and they ended up with mold on the inside after the summer.

no power, the power cord for the computer wasn't even plugged in yet.

water, reverse osmosis with water wetter.

EDIT:: The leak, came from the vid card block, apparently the hose had come lose when installing everything. I even had hose clamps on it, but i tighten it some more and the rest of the hose clamps so hopefully no more leaks.

after this leak its been running for a couple hours with no more leaking.

Well then, you have a good shot at being OK. However, there are no gaurantees..........

Be patient. Put the parts under a fan. Wait a few days.

That's happened to most everybody who has run a watercooled system for any length of time. I've always come out of it pretty good.

i bought it from dangerden. I don't think it was the fault of the block cause it was leaking at the end of the tubing. just the tubing came lose somehow.

Here's a trick I learned for leak testing. Since it's just not practical with my set-up to test outside the case first, I put folded paper towels under every possible leak area. You'll notice any leak very easily this way, and keep it from sensitive areas.

Saved my butt when I installed my black ice micro. I didn't notice the shroud depth was different from one side to the other. And I nicked a tube with a too long screw. A very slow leak that could have been a mess if I hadn't spotted it very early. A little solder, shorter screws, and I was testing again.

Good luck man.

thanks, i'll try that next time too.

O, i was looking at the sound card a little more last night, (its a audigy plat) and spraying it with some more compressed air i noticed that there looked like there was some water underneath the core. It should still be ok if i let it dry right?? and how long do i let this stuff dry 2,3,4 days?

Hopefully you'll be okay. I'd blow it out with a hairdryer then set it outside. In Phoenix that pretty much means no moisture possible by the next day. But if you have water under chips I'd give it more time than you think it needs just to be safe.
