| ok, Last night i was bored and pissed of with my CPU overheating so decided to strip down my PC and replace the HSF. Put it all back together but now when i try to boot it up it runs for about 5 seconds and then turns itself off. Have checked all connections several times so it aint that and i aint getting any beeps to tell me that something aint installed properly. Anyone with any ideas? Its a MSI KT3 Ultra MB, with athlon XP 1900+ CPU, Radeon 9700 pro gfx card and currently 256MB RAM. | ||

| pull the board from the box and check to see what burnt.if everything look good, try to boot it while it's out.mine recently decided to stop booting before loading the bios after 6 months of operation.pulled it and everything booted fine.reinstaled it and it's still going.have no idea what happened. since you replaced the hsf, look at the under-side of the processor.if thermal shut-down was enabled, and the hsf wasn't sitting square on the die,the board will shut down. unfortunatly,it sounds as if something is fried. | ||
