Default nForce2 400 Ultra? Is it available?

the topic pretty much says it all. I saw something about this chipset a while back. Then i saw the VIA KT400-A. Are either of these available? They sell AMD's with 400 FSB, how about mobo's? (aside from the KT400)

I know ASUS has had 400fsb nforce2 boards out for awhile now.

Soltek, MSI and Epox all have Ultra400 chipsets out now. Most other venders have a 400 fsb solution as well, albiet with an older chipset and BIOS update. Most of the revision 2 nforce boards "officially" support 400 fsb.

The newest revisions of the normal Nforce2 boards are the Ultra. All it is, is the new C1 stepping NB. If you take off the NB HS you will see A2, A3 & A1 (which is actually C1) and in that order you have the worst to best ocier. Here's a pic of the NB with A2 stepping http://8rda.com/page2.htm# halfway down the page.

Amdmb had a report that only chips marked like this... http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherb...boards-01.html were ultra 400. Which has no stepping info printed on it at all are actually Ultra 400 chips. Now they have this article.. http://www.amdmb.com/article-display...D=237&PageID=1 Stating all Rev. 2 boards have the Ultra400 chipset.

I just checked my Abit Rev. 2 with cpuZ and it has the C1 stepping. According to the article that makes it a Ultra400. If it wasn't such a pain I'd pull off the heatsink and look at it.

Edit: I couldn't find anything on Abit's sight stating it has the Ultra400. I'd guess any nforce board that states it "officially" supports 400 fsb would have to be the Ultra400.

Hehehe... No its no power supply.
Gigabyte has a secondary type of chipset running over the CPU giving it more stability. It first came out in the P4 motherboards and since it has shown great results, they are aiming it to the AMD line as well.

Gigabyte have great boards. Their benchmarks are not as high as some, but it is as stable as a damn rock. If you try and OC, at boot the motherboard will read all sensors and disable boot so you would not be able to kill a CPU, even an AMD.

It has protection for the AGP slot as well. Dual bios so it protects from viruses and some cool new software with auto updates.

Sorry for the double posts but,
to answer the initial question of this thread
according to CPU magazine:

All nforce 2 board will run 400 fsb. An update will be available very soon. However, some motherboard companies might restrict the update. I am sure something could be done.

Gladiator you are confused
The card that you are talking about is a supplemental 3-phase power system, which when plugged in adds to the mainboard's 3-phase power in order to give more consistent, smooth voltage regulation (it becomes 6-phase power)

Gigabyte is a great motherboard maker but the colors are fr00ty as hell! Anyone who has a gigabyte motherboard who feels they have a lack of options; try this:
In the main BIOS screen hold down alt and press F1 for 1-5 seconds which will bring up a new option submenu entitled "Advanced Chipest Options" where you can tweak CAS, voltage, etc depending on the motherboard.
No I am not kidding, gigabyte hid this menu because they are scared of users fûcking up they're motherboard

Sorry, the Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra Platinum and 512MB Stick of Corsair XMS 3500 is going in the boyz' rig.

Tek, I won't be slapping this board in until I finish up a review I'm working on, but I've read the manual on the bios. Looks like all the options are right up front where they need to be.

I'm think Gigabyte realizes this board isn't designed for n00bs.

i wonder if that three phase power system would get in the way of some of the larger heatsinks on the market.

and I wonder if BA's boy could use a KT333 Plat with 512 PC2700 instead of that KT400 and PC3500. Some questions were never meant to be answered...unless....
