| On an extremely tight budget (400$) last christmas I bought a Asus A7s333 mobo, generic case, 256mb ddr333, 7200rpm maxtor 30 gig, Xp2100 (AGOIA) and used my old Gforce 4 MX420. My question is How can I up the voltage on this board? the most I can O.C. is 142/35 (stock is 133/33), I haven't unlocked this processer yet so I am stuck with 13 as the multiplier, is this the best I can do, or shold I unlock it? I can find no adjustments for core voltage in the bios, and I think I need more juice for a better overclock! I have read alot of forums and can't find anything about O.C. this cheap board. Is voltage modding it the same procedure as the better Asus boards? Did I realy blow it like when I bought my Gforce 4 MX420 (Stupid card is just a tweeked Gforce 2 ) Is there any O.C. potential for this board, or just put it in my kids computer and forget about it? I need some Pimp help to get this thing Clockin! | ||

| it is a polomino right? if so then thats prolly as far as the proc will go, what cooler do you have and what are your temps? if in the bios, it shows the voltage but you cant do anything to it then ... no you cant change the voltage. dude i feel your pain with that mx 420...... it is horriblei got a 3900 3dmark2001 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! noooooooo my nex upgrade is a ti4200 ![]() | ||

| Yes, its a Palamino core, I have a nice heatsink and fan (Copper Zalman), with Arctic Silver3, temps never go above 50 c when running 3dmarks2001 (best score of 4900+ with O.C video card and memmory set to 2-2-6 fsb 134/34) I thought since I have DDR 333 that is should be able to hit a FSB of 166 (166x2=333) or am I totally off? I have read alot, but I am still a O.C newb (Hardcore gamer for years ) I would like to run my fsb and memmory at the same speed, but I am not even sure if this is possible on this Mobo, I can find articles on the A7V333 but nothing with the SIS 745 Chipset. Maybe I need to dump my Palimono and go with a Barton 2500 to hit 333 FSB (My bios goes to 166 fsb) I will try unlocking my chip first and let you know what happens, Thanks for the help! | ||

| well you might not be able to reach 166fsb with either procc or mobo even with a downed multiplier. the 2500+ is a good chip but your mobo may struggle to keep up with 166 fsb. i suggest getting a a good mobo with that procc then youll be free to change everything!!! and youll have no stabillity problems at 166 fsb | ||

| So basicaly it falls in the same category as the stupid Mx420 Pretty packaging with a BIG name brand, but you get what you pay for... I will never make a Noob mistake of purchasing before I research. I was thinking of something with the new version Nforce 2 chipset, Are the Epox boards the best bang for the buck?, alot of people have in the forums claim they are a overclockers budget bargain ![]() Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 05-June-03 at 09:58 PM.. | ||

| http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/zalman-cpu.html#5100 is the cooler I am using, a friend of mine bought that would not fit his MSI board (bolts to board) so it was a freebie! Another Noob purchase, but my friend this time, not me But the reviews have said it's not too bad for O.C. with the fan up It will sit at 46c idle with the fsb overclocked to 137/34, and 40c idle at stock 133/33, wich is about 8c lower than with the retail HSF I had before.Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 05-June-03 at 09:57 PM.. | ||

| You guys are great! Epox it is, I was kinda bummed out by Asus, they had a great rep in all the reviews I had read, But I didn't know this was there budget board (combined North and South bridge chips should have been a warning sign) I just figured it was an older model at a clearance price (bought it at a computer show and the guy said it was good for overclocking ) But like I said I only spent $400 for the whole thing, so I guess it will end up in a machine that I am putting together for Lan parties. | Where did you find it for $85? most places are asking a bit more, 96$ at SCV. Would it be worth the extra bucks for the Nforce 2+ 8RGA ? Some reviews http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherb...boards-19.html have said DDR 400 (or even DDR433) is not much of a gain for the xtra bucks, with the Atholon 64 just around the corner... | ||

| Newegg obviously made a pricing mistake and have not noticed it yet so I suggest you grab the 8RDA+ quick $85 for standard 8RDA and $5 extra for Shipping & Handling $85 for 8RDA+ and Free Shipping & Handling | ||

| Well, I got a short paycheck this week so no Mobo money till next week . After extensively searching the net for the 3rd time since I bought this Lemon, I found no comprehensive English reviews on this board. So I tried working my way through a few German and Japanese reviews, In a summary of dislikes in a German review, it complained of no voltage adjustments and it seemed as if they had problems getting it to run 166fsb. A Japanese sight had blueprints for the board, but its much harder to figure out Japanese. After work tonight I plan on going through the blueprints and see if I can figure out where to tap in for a volt mod and post what I find.Hope that Epox is still on sale next week!
