I'm trying to install a 100gb HDD on an Asus P2B-D Motherboard, It will not detect it in bios and/or as a storage drive when installed as Slave w/a 10gb drive installed as master w/XP Pro. I cannot find any info about wether this Board supports large drives or not. Anyone out there got any idea's ???

SPEC'S

2x P2 400MHz
512mb Ram
pci - video
pci - NIC

Thanks for any help, HTRN

make sure none of the pins are broke or missing. Should be a limiter setting on it also see if it will boot w/ that.

One other thing to think about is that some of the older drives acting as a master, particularly Western Digital drives, require the 'Slave Present' jumper set on the master drive otherwise a slave drive on the same string will not be seen.

I would avoid using 'Cable Select' with older hardware such as this as well.

i remember from back a few years this specific MOBO along with a couple of SHUTTLE had a bios issue taking mere 60 gb maxtor drives .... then the problem grew to 80gb WD (caviar series) ...... on the asus the problem got solved after i flashed the bios to the most current one to its time ..... the shuttle .... i just kept my 40 on it until a few years later died

i'd say is the bios .... ( but, ...... i could always be wrong)
